How Does Username Targeting Work?

Username targeting is the #1 recommended targeting type in Wolf Engager Pro. You pick Instagram accounts in your niche, and the workflow engages with their Followers or Likers — people already interested in content like yours.

How to add usernames

  1. Open your task → Target Settings
  2. Pick Followers or Likers as the target type
  3. Click Target List (above the target field)
  4. Paste your account list — up to 100 usernames at once, one per line
  5. Click Add & Save

Wolf Engager Pro validates each username and saves the valid ones automatically. Invalid ones (typos, deleted accounts) appear above your list so you can review and retry.

Supported formats per line:

  • username
  • @username
  • https://instagram.com/username

Followers vs. Likers — which to pick

Type Targets Use when
Followers Everyone who follows the account you added You want to reach the account's entire audience
Likers People who recently liked the account's posts You want HOT leads (active recent engagers) — usually higher conversion

Use both in mixed proportions: add 20 accounts as Followers + 20 different accounts as Likers. Don't use the same account in both lists — you'd target the same people twice.

What makes a good target account

  • ✅ 10K–300K followers (sweet spot)
  • ✅ Posted within the last week (active = engaged audience)
  • ✅ Engagement rate 1–5% (likes ÷ followers  )
  • ✅ Topic clearly matches your niche
  • ✅ Real comments on recent posts (not "🔥🔥🔥" spam)

For the full quality-check process, see Picking High-Quality Audience Targets.

  • 30–50 accounts total in your username target lists
  • Mix sizes: a few mid-size accounts (50K–150K) + some smaller niche ones (10K–50K) + 1–2 larger anchors (150K–300K)
  • Refresh every 2–4 weeks — drop underperformers, add new finds
  • Pair with Source Tracking (Stats tab) to see which accounts actually produce followers for you

Common mistakes

  • ❌ Same account in both Followers and Likers — targets the same people twice
  • ❌ Fewer than 20 accounts (too concentrated)
  • ❌ Mega-accounts only (1M+) — noisy audience, low match quality
  • ❌ Accounts inactive 30+ days — dead audience
  • ❌ Never refreshing the list — saturation kills engagement after 4–6 weeks

Don't forget to back up

Click View Targets → select all → copy → paste into a notepad. You'll thank yourself if you ever need to rebuild or clone the setup to another account.

To reuse on another account: open the new task → Paste Settings → done.
